Ian Watkins U3A Genealogy on the Internet

I have created this blog as a supplement to my U3A Genealogy classes for:

  • Beginners, and
  • Advanced Users

I am still adding topics to the Legacy part of this blog and hope to finish in the second half of 2011. In any event the blog will not be all encompassing as Legacy has too many features for me to cover. The blog is designed to cover every day topics that you will encounter in your data entry. If you get stuck, just look in Legacy's extensive help file.

The blog subjects have been divided into two categories:

General Genealogy (Click on highlighted category to go to that page)

Legacy Family Tree (click on highlighted category to go to that page)

The reason I use Legacy for the U3A courses is that I have found it to have every feature a good genealogy programme should offer. I personally use Legacy at home. Legacy also has these advantages:

    • Free version - an excellent free version (minus all the bells & whistles) but still capable of providing an excellent genealogy programme.
    • No annual update(s) requiring you to purchase the updated version. Legacy provides free incremental updates throughout the year. New version(s), requiring purchase, are only released when a major upgrade of the programme is released.
