Legary - Icons

When you open Legacy in Family View you see the following window:

On the top of the window you see a line of icons in the Main Toolbar.

At the bottom of the individuals' information page is a line of icons - some are opaque whilst others are coloured.

Each of these icons is a link to a Legacy function.

Moving the cursor over the icon will bring up a brief description of the task related to that icon.

An opaque coloured icon indicates that there is no data in that section of the individual's file. The icon changes to multi-colour when data is added to the section of the individual's file.

The Main Toolbar icons will be discussed in another section of this blog.

Individual's Family View Toolbar

Legacy sets the Family View Toolbar for an individual to the default settings:

When you enter a new individual in Family View the icons are opaque. This is the spouse icon for bachelor (icons are female and would be reversed for a spinster).

Icons change colour when data is entered in the icon's related field. Some icons also show a number in the bottom left-hand corner. This indicates the number of occurances of that particular event. This icon is the spouse icon and the "2" in the bottom left-hand corner shows that the individual has two (2) spouses.

You can click on any of these icons to perform related functions. You click on the "Spouses" icon to add another spouse, or click on the "Notes" icon to add freehand notes. These functions will be explained in detail in a later post.

The purpose of this post is to enable you to recognise the linkage of each icon.
